Free Native Plants Program

Council offers the Free Native Plants Program to residents, schools, clubs, body corporates and registered community groups to plant within their grounds. 


Active School Travel program

Council’s Active School Travel program is a behaviour-change program designed to educate and motivate students, parents and teachers to leave the car at home and actively travel to and from school.

Green Heart Teacher Professional Development Day

In June 2017, Council was proud to welcome 100 local teachers and educators to our Teacher Professional Development Day, hosted at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha.

Online games

Council has created several environmental games for you to enjoy and have developed a custom map in Minecraft. 

Free trees for Arbor Day

This year, Brisbane schools will celebrate the 127th Arbor Day on Tuesday 10 October 2017. Council offers free native plants to all Brisbane primary and secondary schools for planting on their grounds to celebrate Arbor Day.

2017 Future BNE Challenge winners

The Green Heart Schools Future BNE Challenge on 24 March 2017, engaged over 600 Year 7 students in an immersive, interactive and future-thinking learning challenge.

Student Environmental Leadership Network

Green Heart Schools' Student Environmental Leadership Network (SELN) is an environment-specific leadership program for Year 10 Brisbane students.
