To celebrate the launch of Brisbane joining the international Love Food Hate Waste movement, Council working together with Jamie's Ministry of Food is hosting five week cooking courses in a state-of-the-art mobile kitchen at Mt Gravatt.

These five-week courses are fun, enlightening, affordable and can change the way you think about preparing and cooking food. The state-of-the-art mobile kitchen is a purpose-built, fully equipped classroom, designed to deliver fun, hands-on, small group cooking classes based on Jamie Oliver's recipes and home cooking philosophy. Participants will learn to cook fresh, nutritious food and make better food choices, helping to reduce waste and the instances of obesity and Type 2 diabetes in the community.

Around one third of the average Brisbane wheelie bin is food waste and simple behaviour changes in the kitchen can easily reduce waste and support a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Brisbane.

Classes are ideal for beginners and intermediate cooks, but even experienced cooks come away with new skills, techniques and knowledge. At the end of each 90-minute class, the meal cooked by the demonstrator is shared and participants will take home their cooked meal to share with family or friends.

Courses commence in mid-November 2017 and mid-January 2018. The cooking courses require participants to attend one 90-minute class per week for a total of five weeks. A timetable of different class times runs over six days per week, including Saturdays and evenings, ensuring there is a timeslot to suit everyone. The price is just $10 per class for concession holders ($50 per course), $15 per class for students ($75 per course) and $20 per class for adults ($100 per course).

Don't miss your opportunity to learn how to cook amazing food, save money and keep Brisbane clean, green and sustainable through reducing your household's food waste.
