Waste and recycling facilities

Brisbane City Council operates four resource recovery centres (previously known as transfer stations), tip shops and a landfill site to manage the waste and recycling needs of the city.

Resource recovery centres

Brisbane City Council's four transfer stations have been renamed to 'resource recovery centres' after being upgraded to provide free recycling areas. Brisbane residents can drop off recyclables for free, and any general waste and green waste for the cost of a waste voucher or a fee depending on your load size.

Brisbane tip shops

Brisbane City Council’s two tip shops are open every weekend and sell quality used, recycled and second-hand products which have been salvaged before going to landfill.

Rochedale landfill

Council has one world-class, engineered landfill site at Rochedale, where waste from Brisbane residents is buried if it can't be recycled or reused. Waste is taken from the disposal area at each resource recovery centre to the landfill site.
