Greywater

Greywater is wastewater from the bath, shower, basin, laundry tub and washing machine that can be used on lawns, gardens and for other purposes around the home. It does not include wastewater from the toilet, bidet or kitchen.

Treated greywater is the end product of using a greywater treatment plant and can be used for:

  • lawn and garden irrigation
  • toilet flushing
  • washing of paths, walls and vehicles 
  • laundry and washing machine use (cold water source only)

Queensland Government removed the mandatory requirements attached to water saving targets from 1 July 2013. If you would like to install a greywater system, your enquires should be directed to the Building Codes Queensland website.
