Newstead Park park booking sites

Newstead Park at Newstead has two park booking sites available for bookings for special events of short duration. The park is located on the Brisbane River and includes heritage-listed Newstead House, off-street parking, manicured lawns and gardens and shade trees.

To book this park for a special event, follow these steps:

  1. Consider the park location and facilities and view our virtual tours of the booking sites. Does a booking site at this park meet your needs? If so, go to Step 2. If not, view our other park booking sites.
  2. Complete the online park booking application form, noting Brisbane City Council's standard booking conditions.

Impacts due to works

Over the next two years a number of projects will impact Newstead Park and surrounding areas.  Key projects and their estimated construction times include:

  • Newstead House and Substation Conservation Project will commence in early November 2021 for approximately 12 months. For more information visit Queensland Government's website.
  • Breakfast Creek Green Bridge construction will commence early 2022 and will be completed by late 2023. For more information view Breakfast Creek Green Bridge.
  • Council will be upgrading the public toilet block from January 2023 until approximately mid-2023.
  • The existing toilet will be closed, and a temporary toilet facility will be available for public use near the southern entrance to the park (intersection of Newstead Ave and Newstead Terrace).
  • Works will take place between 6.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, with some Saturday works if required. You may experience some construction impacts such as noise, dust, vibration and access changes during these times.

Council, the Queensland Government and the Newstead House Board of Trustees are working together as the projects progress to minimise impacts to Newstead Park and the surrounding community, where possible.

Newstead Park will remain open for general public use and event bookings, however works may impact on visual amenity and access. Customers will be advised of the works and potential impacts during the booking process.

Park bookings

Bookings only apply to the particular site you choose in the park, and to the use of any facilities in that booking site, such as a rotunda or power (if available). You cannot book shelters (other than rotundas as marked) or playgrounds for your specific use, though your group is free to share these facilities with other park visitors. Power points may have different phases (i.e. operate on different voltages), so it is advisable to check your electronic equipment's compatibility before your event. No marquees are permitted.

In some parks, as well as the listed booking site/s, there may be some alternative bookable areas of the park. Please submit an application and you will be contacted regarding the suitability of the park for the event, availability and fees.
