About the project

Council called for tenders for an operator to build, own, operate and maintain a permanent coffee and pre-packaged food kiosk, with a lease offer of up to ten years.

The kiosk will be located near the pier at Sandgate Foreshores Park, Shorncliffe. The skillion roofed kiosk design will complement the existing seaside architecture of the foreshores park.

Project benefits

Following overwhelming support from the local community (based on a survey with 84% positive responses), the much-loved park at Sandgate Foreshores adjoining the Shorncliffe Pier will benefit from a coffee and pre-packaged food vendor. This will enhance the amenity of the park by delivering a facility that has been associated with the long history of the area.

Moora Park was the hub of the Sandgate ‘seaside experience' from as early as the 1880s. Sandgate became a popular seaside resort in the late nineteenth century, and between then and the mid-twentieth century public facilities including kiosks, piers, jetties, lovers’ walk, bathing facilities and entertainment venues were added to the area.

The Shorncliffe kiosk project is part of Council's commitment to keeping Brisbane clean and green, making our city liveable and sustainable for future generations.
