Council is planning to construct a high quality sporting precinct at 880 Manly Road, Wakerley which will provide increased sporting and active space facilities for Wakerley and surrounding Bayside suburbs.

This project forms part of a city wide park infrastructure planning program to meet sport and recreational needs of the community. Council has identified that there is a demand in the area for netball facilities and as such will deliver a new district sports park to cater for this need.

It is proposed that the sports park component of the project will involve installing:

  • a sporting club house (within the lower story of the MoW building)
  • toilet and change room amenities
  • eight hardstand courts with lighting
  • a small practice area
  • a carpark extension
  • a bus drop-off bay on Manly Road
  • an informal recreation area with a small playground
  • a connecting shared pedestrian and cyclist pathway
  • landscaping.

Council is working closely with the Wynnum Manly District Meals on Wheels Association Inc. (MoW) to deliver a new commercial kitchen facility which will also house a sporting club house leased by Council.
