Pre-sale Inspection Report

If you are buying an existing food business, you may wish to apply for a pre-sale inspection report to check the current level of compliance. It is not a mandatory requirement, however is very helpful when considering purchasing a business. From the date the application is made, it takes 20 working days to complete the report and is valid for 21 days from the issue date.

An Environmental Health officer will inspect the premises before issuing a report. The report will provide written information on the current condition of the premises and will outline areas of non-compliance in relation to the design, maintenance and cleanliness. The pre-sale inspection does not provide a star rating of the premises under the Eat Safe Brisbane scheme.

Note: even if the business has a current licence, as a new owner you will need to apply for and be granted a food business licence in your own name before you can start operating.

For 2022-23, there is a single flat rate fee for pre-sale inspection report of $505.35.
