Road closures for filming

Brisbane City Council supports use of the road network for filming, provided impacts on traffic can be efficiently managed and public safety is not compromised. Find out the assessment time frames for different types of road closure impacts and how to apply.

Road closure impacts and time frames

You need to consider the impact of your proposed road closure and plan ahead to allow Council time to assess your application. The following table outlines the different levels of impact and the time frame Council requires.

Parking within designated parking areas within the specified parking requirements.

  • film crew vehicles parked within the parking area constraints and pay for meter parking
  • only parked for the duration of the permitted parking times on the meter
  • use of parking lane only

  • affects local neighbourhoods
  • does not impact major arterial corridors or highway/motorways
    • full/partial closure and accredited traffic management in place
    • local home owners enter and exit as required
    • public transport not impacted
    • hold and release of traffic in local suburban street

Major impact

Affects major arterials or priority routes in Brisbane through closure of roads and/or reduced capacity

  • arterial roads
  • full/partial closure accredited traffic management in place
  • impacts public transport services
  • multiple closures within the CBD and surrounding suburbs over a number of days
