Brisbane City Council has a Register of Local Laws and Subordinate Local Laws, and publishes notices about new local laws, as well as proposed local laws open for public consultation.

Local laws for public consultation

For any law proposed by Council, public submissions may be made to the Chief Executive Officer during a consultation period. Council has proposed to make the Animals Local Law 2017 and the Regulated Parking Permit Amending Local Law 2018. Details are in the public notices below. 

Proposed local laws

Public Notice of proposed Regulated Parking Permit Amending Local Law 2018 for the City of Brisbane

City of Brisbane Act 2010 - Section 29

Brisbane City Council ("Council") has by resolution proposed to make a local law entitled Regulated Parking Permit Amending Local Law 2018 ("the proposed local law").

The purpose of the proposed local law is to amend the Regulated Parking Permit Local Law 1996 to respond to the recommendations that were made in the Parking Taskforce Report, including the introduction of digital parking permits.

Council is now consulting with the public about the proposed local law. The consultation period about the proposed local law is 15 business days. The first day of the consultation period is 12 February 2018. The last day of the consultation period is 2 March 2018.

Any person may, on or before 2 March 2018:

(a)       Download a copy of the proposed local law from the link below; and/or

(b)       Inspect and/or obtain free of charge a copy of the proposed local law at Council’s Customer Service Centre, Level 1, Brisbane Square, 266 George Street, Brisbane; and

(c)       Make a written submission about the proposed local law stating the aspects of the proposed local law to which the submission relates and the grounds, facts and circumstances relied on in the submission.

Submissions must:

  1. Be received by Council on or before 2 March 2018.
  2. Be addressed by mail to:

  1. State the full name and address of the submitter.
  2. Nominate a principal submitter if a submission is made by more than one submitter.

Council will consider all properly made submissions.

The personal information provided in submissions will be used by Brisbane City Council for the purpose of recording and responding to submissions on the proposed local law.  Personal information will not be disclosed to any third party without the consent of the submitter unless required or permitted by law.

Public Notice of proposed Animals Local Law 2017 for the City of Brisbane

City of Brisbane Act 2010 - Section 29

Brisbane City Council ("Council") has by resolution proposed to make a local law entitled Animals Local Law 2017 ("the proposed local law").

The main purpose of the proposed local law is to regulate and manage the keeping and control of animals.

Council is now consulting with the public about the proposed local law.  The consultation period about the proposed local law is 28 business days. The first day of the consultation period is 15 January 2018. The last day of the consultation period is 22 February 2018.

Any person may, on or before 22 February 2018:

(a)     Download a copy of the proposed local law from the links below; and/or

(b)     Inspect and/or obtain free of charge a copy of the proposed local law at Council’s Customer Service Centre, Level 1, Brisbane Square, 266 George Street, Brisbane; and

(c)     Make a written submission about the proposed local law stating the aspects of the proposed local law to which the submission relates and the grounds, facts and circumstances relied on in the submission.
