Development assessment fees

Brisbane City Council planning application and development assessment fees can vary depending on the type of development you are proposing or undertaking. The Development Services assessment and compliance fees and charges for 2023-24 are available for download in your preferred format:

Fees listed include Goods and Services Tax (GST) where applicable. They do not include infrastructure charges.

For staged developments, Council classes each development stage as a separate development application for fee purposes.

Planning and building economic recovery initiatives

To help our city recover from the impacts of coronavirus, a range of new services and incentives were established to assist small to large scale development continue to progress across the city.

Fee payment

Application fees for planning applications can be complex. Council’s online lodgement forms will collect the relevant fee information, as per the fee schedule, to determine the appropriate fee.  

For some applications, payment can be provided at the time of completing the lodgement form.  However, the application fee is generally not required at the time of submitting your application.  Council will check your lodgement material to ensure it meets the properly made application requirements and you will receive a fee quote with payment options.

Electronic payment (BPAY)

BPAY is the preferred method of paying application fees. You can visit pay a bill, fine or infringement to pay for your application fees.

Council can accept BPAY up to $100,000 and will also accept payments from a credit card account up to $10,000. Speak to your financial institution to negotiate set BPAY payment limits if required.

On payment confirmation, Council will email a PDF tax invoice to you.
