Planning professionals have an exciting opportunity to help guide the future development of Australia’s New World City by contributing to Brisbane City Council’s Plan your Brisbane initiative.

The initiative follows the Queensland Government’s recently released South East Queensland Regional Plan, which requires Brisbane to facilitate approximately 188,000 more dwellings by 2041.

With changing demographics, Brisbane also needs to plan for and encourage new types of housing to meet the needs of our ageing population, young people and smaller-sized families or households.

In response to previous growth, Council has created more lifestyle and leisure options, and delivered Australia’s most modern public transport system while keeping Brisbane clean, green and sustainable. But there’s more work to be done to carefully plan for the future.

Plan your Brisbane runs until June 2018 and help Council gather key information about what residents most love about their city and what would make Brisbane an even better place in the future.

Pop-up stalls are currently being held at shopping centres and events across Brisbane. Council is also creating a dedicated, interactive online hub, to allow people from a range of professional disciplines and diverse communities to have their say.

Council and residents also got together for a successful day of interactive activities to discuss key challenges and consider principles for the future at the Plan Your Brisbane Intergenerational Forum.

What you tell us will directly inform how we shape our city.

Complete the online survey by 15 December 2017 or register to stay in touch with the project.
