Proposed citywide amendment - Increased car parking for suburban multiple dwellings

Brisbane is a great place to live, work and relax. To ensure our friendly and liveable city continues to thrive and Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan) remains effective and up-to-date, Brisbane City Council is proposing an amendment package to increase car parking for suburban multiple dwellings (Amendment package J).

This citywide amendment package is designed to change the provisions in the Transport, access, parking and servicing planning scheme policy to increase the amount of car parks needed in new multiple dwelling developments in suburban areas.

Key changes include increasing to 2 parking spaces for 2 and 3 bedroom units and 2.5 parking spaces for 4 or more bedroom units. Visitor parking is also being increased.

The amendment was initiated by Council in response to resident feedback received during citywide consultation during Plan your Brisbane and is a deliverable from Brisbane’s Future Blueprint.

You can download a copy of the public notice:

This proposed amendment package is following the planning scheme policy amendment process as outlined in Chapter 3, Part 1 of the Queensland Government’s Minister's Guidelines and Rules.
