Priority project: Adelaide Street
Adelaide Street is a vital public transport corridor, a busy pedestrian thoroughfare, and one of Brisbane’s iconic city boulevards. It forms part of our city centre’s retail heart and is home to some of our most cherished civic spaces.
Delivery of this project will include:
- developing an overall vision for the street
- staged design and upgrade of the street environment, including works as part of Brisbane Metro
- partnering with stakeholders and the community.
For more information on each of the priority projects you can download the City Centre Master Plan 2014.
Draft Adelaide Street Vision
Brisbane City Council has released a draft vision for Adelaide Street’s evolution into a walkable, tree-lined boulevard, weaving together retail and key civic spaces with a world-class public transport experience.
Construction of Council’s Brisbane Metro project provides the opportunity to deliver improvements to Adelaide Street including pedestrian and streetscape upgrades. The City Centre Master Plan 2014 also identifies the need to develop a streetscape master plan for Adelaide Street.
