Brisbane City Plan 2014 designates particular places having heritage values as a Heritage Place. The Heritage overlay map identifies sites as Local heritage, State heritage or Area adjoining state/local heritage.
Development on or adjoining a heritage place is not to detract from the cultural heritage significance of that heritage place, including any Aboriginal cultural values. The Heritage overlay code details when a heritage impact assessment report will be required to demonstrate compliance with Heritage assessment criteria (assessment benchmarks).
The Heritage planning scheme policy provides a guide in preparing a heritage impact assessment report.
Lodging a detailed heritage impact assessment report, which incorporates the guidance and advice contained within the Heritage planning scheme policy and achieves the outcomes in the City Plan, will assist in a quicker assessment process.
