Building and development compliance

Council provides compliance and assessment in relation to the Building Act, Queensland Development Code, pool safety and general advice.  A Request for Assessment application is required to obtain this advice.

Request for Assessment types

You can make a Request for Assessment application for the following matters:
Building Act Matters
Approval for occupation of a building Use of a building, other than a class 1, 2, 3 or 4 building, for residential purposes under the Building Act 1975
Dwelling relocation (or amendment to dwelling relocation)House removal and re-erection – setting of security bond
Extension of time for Building ApprovalExtension of time for a Brisbane City Council issued approval or extension of time where a certifier consults with the local government about the proposed extension
Certificate of Occupancy (formerly referred to as a Certificate of Classification)For a commercial building constructed before 1 April 1976

How to apply

Complete the request for assessment online form, and:

  • upload any supporting documents
  • pay the application fee using a Visa or Mastercard.
