City Centre Master Plan - Priority projects

The Brisbane City Centre Master Plan 2014 is kick-starting the transformation of our city centre through the delivery of a number of priority projects. These projects are already beginning to revitalise our city streets and riverfront precincts and better connect inner-city neighbourhoods.

For further information on each of the priority projects, you can download the City Centre Master Plan.

Howard Smith Wharves is Brisbane's newst river's edge destination. It showcases our natural assets, heritage and outdoor lifestyle. Howards Smith Wharves was created in partnership between Council and HSW Nominees. It opened to the public in late 2018.

Queens Wharf Brisbane

Queen's Wharf Brisbane will be a world-class entertainment precinct in the heart of the city. Refurbished heritage buildings, entertainment venues and a lively waterfront will bring new life to this part of the city. Queen's Wharf Brisbane is currently being delivered by the Destination Brisbane Consortium in partnership with the Queensland Government. The first stages of the precinct are due to open to the public in 2022.

Edward Street

Edward Street will be transformed into a first-class retail precinct. It will feature sophisticated streetscapes, landscaping, beautiful buildings and boutique shopping. The first stage was completed in 2017. It included streetscape improvements and creative lighting.

Albert Street

Albert Street will become a leafy subtropical boulevard connecting the City Botanic Gardens, King George Square and Roma Street Parkland.
