Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) 2016-2026

On Tuesday 5 June 2018, Brisbane City Council adopted the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) 2016-2026. The new LGIP will become effective on 29 June 2018.

Our city is evolving within one of the fastest growing regions in Australia and it’s important to make sure that as our city grows we maintain our high standard of infrastructure, delivered where and when it is needed and for the best value for money.

To make this happen, Council is amending Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan) to include the new Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) together with a City Plan major amendment for long term infrastructure.

These plans include around 1000 projects worth $2 billion for stormwater, transport, parks and land for community facilities over the next 10 years.

The new LGIP will replace the previous current LGIP (previously known as the Priority Infrastructure Plan). It will adopt a 10-year planning horizon (2016-2026) to align with Council’s Asset Management Plan and statutory financial sustainability requirements.

The draft LGIP was developed using input from the community and covers the following infrastructure networks:

  1. stormwater network (e.g. pipes and water quality treatment devices)
  2. transport network (e.g. roads, pathways, ferry terminals and bus stops)
  3. public parks network (e.g. parks, sporting facilities)
  4. land for community facilities network.

Queensland Urban Utilities has responsibility for planning and delivering the water supply and sewerage network.

Community consultation

The draft LGIP was available for public consultation from 12 June 2017 to 21 July 2017. Council considered all properly made submissions during that time and made amendments where appropriate. These changes and a report on submissions were sent to the Queensland Government for final review.

The table below lists the proposed section amendments and a copy of the revised draft sent to the Queensland Government for review. Where the sections have been amended following community consultation, both the proposed and revised documents are provided in the table. To view the current (original) version of the documents see the ePlan.

Note that the final amendments adopted by Council will be become effective and available in the ePlan on 29 June 2018.

Find out if your property is affected

You can check if there are any proposed future trunk infrastructure items affecting a property by viewing the revised Plans for trunk infrastructure (PFTI) maps for each infrastructure network and the new Schedule of Works tables.

Step 1. Check the Plans for Trunk Infrastructure (PFTI) maps for any future trunk infrastructure items.

Step 2. Take note of the unique identifier (e.g. ROC-A1-001) and type of infrastructure (e.g. Park).

Step 3. Open the corresponding Schedule of Works (SoW) table (e.g. SoW Public Parks) and search for the unique identifier (e.g. ROC-A1-001) for more details on the item, such as timing and costings.

To help with interpreting the documents, you can view the key components of the LGIP (Word - 108kb).

If you require assistance viewing or interpreting any information related to the draft LGIP, you can phone the Infrastructure Coordination team on 07 3403 8888.

Note: the final location of trunk infrastructure is subject to detailed investigation, design and Council approval. Delivery of items may be undertaken by Council or through the development process.
