About the project

Community halls provide an affordable and accessible location for a variety of community generated activities and events. Council is working to enhance community access to facilities that support community participation.

The upgrade works will include:

  • improving the amenities of the hall
  • accessibility upgrades
  • external and internal building refurbishment activities
  • installing air conditioning
  • line marking of car park bays.

Early works including asbestos removal will take place in early April 2019, with the main construction activities anticipated to start in mid-2019 and be complete by early 2020, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Construction will primarily take place between 6.30am and 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

Impacts during construction

Residents and businesses in close proximity to the works may experience construction noise and low levels of vibration and dust.

Council has appointed a specialist contractor who will manage the removal of the asbestos to ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and there is no risk to the community, in accordance with the Queensland Government’s Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
