Brisbane City Council is pleased to advise that construction of a new car park at the Bracken Ridge Precinct has commenced with expected completion in late September 2018, weather and construction conditions permitting.
This new car park is part of Council’s commitment to enhancing community access to facilities that support community participation in lifestyle and leisure opportunities, and delivering vibrant, liveable communities.
|Address||Bracken Ridge Precinct, Corner of Telegraph and Lemke roads, Fitzgibbon|
|Project outcome||New car park for patrons accessing the precinct's sporting and recreational facilities|
|Latest update||Construction has commenced.|
About the project
The car park will be located next to the existing car park and will provide an additional 30 to 35 parking spaces to patrons accessing the precinct’s sporting and recreational facilities.
The new car park will involve the following construction activities:
- grass clearing and site preparation
- limited tree removal (two of these are mature Eucalypts)
- installation of electrical conduits and lighting
- line marking.
During construction there will be no loss of parking spaces at the existing car park located at the Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre, however there will be some heavy vehicle movement through this car park generally between 6am and 10am to deliver materials and machinery, and to minimise the impact on patrons.
|Late July 2018||Construction works commence, weather and construction conditions permitting.|
|Late September 2018||Completion of the Bracken Ridge Precinct car park, weather and construction conditions permitting.|
Construction will take place between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday, weather and construction conditions permitting. Residents and businesses will be notified if any out-of-hours works are required.
During construction, local residents and businesses in close proximity to the site may experience an increase in noise and dust as part of these works.
No changed traffic conditions are expected as a result of this project. However, traffic controllers will be on-site if required during construction to ensure a safe road environment for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
All work will be carried out in accordance with the relevant environmental guidelines and Council will make every effort to minimise environmental impacts during construction. Vegetation impacts will be offset in accordance with Council policies and relevant legislative requirements.
Council is committed to minimising impacts to the community wherever possible and appreciates the community’s patience during these works.
