Heart Foundation Walking
Council's former Gonewalking program is now delivered through the Heart Foundation Walking program.
Heart Foundation Walking is Australia's largest network of free community-based walking groups with over 25,000 participants. It's another way Council is encouraging an active and healthy Brisbane to achieve our vision for the city's future.
The free program led by trained Walk Organisers, managed by a local coordinator at the Heart Foundation. With more than 100 walks available, walk at your own pace and choose from slow, medium and fast walks. It's a great opportunity to make new friends, see more of Brisbane's famous parklands and get rewarded for reaching milestones as part of the Walker Recognition Scheme.

Walking groups are a great way to get moving, but you might prefer to walk solo at a time and place that suits you. If you prefer to walk on your own, or can't access a group nearby, you can still be part of Heart Foundation Walking by downloading the Heart Foundation Walking App available for Apple and Android. The App will help you track your steps, connect to our health information, take part in events and campaigns and stay motivated to take up and keep walking.
Being a volunteer Walk Organiser is fun and easy. You get to choose the walking route and the days and times to walk. You also receive great support and resources from the Heart Foundation, as well as rewards for reaching walking milestones as part of the Walker Recognition Scheme.
