About the project

Community halls provide an affordable and accessible location for a variety of community generated activities and events. Council is working to enhance community access to facilities that support community participation.

This project is in line with Council's commitment to creating new lifestyle and leisure opportunities, with better facilities and venues for all ages to enjoy.

The upgrade works included:

  • improving the amenities of the hall
  • accessibility upgrades
  • external and internal building refurbishment activities
  • installing air conditioning
  • line marking of car park bays.

Early works included asbestos removal which was undertaken in early April 2019, with the main construction activities undertaken from mid-2019 to December 2019.

Council appointed a specialist contractor who managed the removal of asbestos to ensure workplace health and safety requirements were met and there was no risk to the community, in accordance with the Queensland Government's Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
