The new refurbishment plan has been developed using staff and customer feedback.

Bush tucker feature garden

To further enhance the library refurbishment, a bush tucker garden has been established within the library’s external precinct to provide a cultural and learning focal point for the library and local community.

Respected community and cultural heritage advisors for the local area were engaged in consultation for the design of this garden.

Local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander horticulturalists/specialists and working groups were also be engaged to develop the garden with Indigenous plants and trees known in the area for their use and suitability to thrive in the surrounding garden of the Zillmere Library.

This separate project received financial assistance from the Queensland Government through the State Library of Queensland.
