About the project
Council will install a site-wide range of furniture to improve amenity and visitor experience in the City Botanic Gardens.
The project includes fabrication and installation of new park bench seats and the restoration and relocation of some existing bench seats within the gardens. The new seats have been designed speficially for the gardens to support the heritage values of the site.
Seven new drinking fountains will also be installed as part of these works.
This project is fully funded by the Australian Government.
Works are anticipated to commence in mid-April 2021 and be completed by 30 June 2021.
Works will be undertaken from Monday to Friday, between 6.30am to 5pm.
Due to the dispersed nature of the work throughout the City Botanic Gardnes, the works will be undertaken in a staged manner. Each work area will be fenced off and demolition and installation of each area will be completed prior to construction commencing on the next work area. This approach will ensure public safety is maintained and disturbance to visitors is minimised throughout the duration of the works.
There will be minor construction noise and increased movement within the City Botanic Gardens during construction.
