About the project

Council is upgrading Grinstead and Shand Street parks in stages to deliver on the Grinstead, Corbett Street and Shand Street Parks Opportunities Plan that was finalised following community consultation and feedback in late 2019.

Stage two will deliver upgrades to Grinstead and Shand Street parks and complete the remaining features identified in the Opportunities Plan. The work includes:

At Grinstead Park

  • Defining the open park edge along Shand Street with log rail barriers
  • Enhancing the existing playground with additional play options, a nature play/discovery trail, seating areas and improved accessibility
  • Enhancing the park’s picnic facilities
  • Providing an interpretive signage trail to educate visitors about flora and fauna in the area.

At Shand Street Park

  • Improving the surfacing around the existing skate half pipe and providing a new pathway link to the bikeway that includes scooter/skate features
  • Providing a bike skills loop track off the existing bikeway
  • Extending the car park to provide additional parking spaces
  • Providing a picnic shelter at the basketball court
  • Providing an interpretive signage trail to educate visitors about flora and fauna in the area.

Construction impacts

Construction works will generally take place:

These aspects will be monitored, and every effort will be made to minimise the impacts on the local community.
