About the project
Council is committed to keeping Brisbane clean and green, making our city liveable and sustainable for future generations.
Wembley Park currently provides a range of recreation opportunities including play and picnic areas and quiet relaxing spaces to walk, cycle and enjoy the local creek.
The Wembley Park project investigated opportunities to improve the health of the waterway and local ecosystems and upgrade and enhance existing facilities in this vibrant green space.
Community consultation and project timing
Early community consultation was undertaken in September 2019 via an online survey. Feedback from this survey, along with input from local community groups, was used to develop an opportunities plan for upgrades to the park.
Further community consultation was then undertaken on this opportunities plan, during December 2019 and January 2020. This consultation was an opportunity for the community to have their say on the proposed features for Wembley Park to help decide which elements will be included and further investigated in the project.
In conjunction with consultation, technical investigations were undertaken to better understand site conditions.
Currently, due to citywide priorities and community feedback, further development of the draft concept plan will not proceed at this time.
