About the project

The Fallon Park Playground project delivered a new playground, behind Fallon Cottage, that responds to the needs of our growing community.

This park upgrade is part of an ongoing program to design and construct parks and facilities to meet and balance the needs of Brisbane’s residents and visitors.

The project is part of Council’s commitment to continue activating and improving the quality of visitor experience, condition and accessibility of Brisbane's parks and playgrounds, allowing for greater participation within the park network.

Previously, there was no playground in this section of Fallon Park. The existing toilet block has been demolished and a new toilet block included as part of the project. The existing small playground, accessible from Stellmach Street, was not part of this scope of works.

This project has been coordinated with the delivery of the new Everton Park Library which is set to open in early 2024.

Project scope

These works included:

  • installation of the new playground, behind Fallon Cottage, with a range of bespoke equipment to encourage imaginative play
  • nature play elements with small sculptures to discover
  • installation of shade sails
  • demolition of the existing toilet block
  • construction of new toilet block
  • improved pathway connections in the park
  • seating and landscaping

Timing

These works commenced in late September 2023 and were completed in mid-December 2023.

The playground will be open for public use from 16 December 2023.
