Brisbane City Council is committed to building an active and healthy city where residents and visitors can enjoy Brisbane's parks and sport and recreational facilities.

As part of this commitment, Council will deliver the Bill Brown Reserve sports park extension in the eastern section of the Bill Brown Sports Reserve on Telegraph Road in Fitzgibbon (near the Denham Street intersection).

This new facility will further enhance this vibrant and growing precinct, which is home to the Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre, Bracken Ridge Skate Plaza, Animal Welfare League Queensland and the recently completed Bracken Ridge BMX facility.

This project forms part of a city wide park infrastructure planning program to meet sport and recreational needs of the community. Additional sports facilities may be added in the future, subject to funding availability.

Council is creating more to see and do in a clean and green Brisbane meaning more opportunities to enjoy Brisbane's beautiful climate and connect with family and friends in the places that make our city great.

Project benefits

The Bill Brown Reserve sports park extension will provide increased sporting and active space facilities for the Fitzgibbon and Bracken Ridge area.

Project timing

Construction started in early August 2019 and is anticipated to be complete by mid-2020, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Construction details and impacts

The project area will be fenced off and closed to the public until Council has completed all required safety and remedial works in the area. There will be increased vehicle movements within the Bill Brown Sports Reserve and surrounding area, particularly along Telegraph Road, near the Denham Street intersection.

Works will be undertaken from 7am-5pm, Monday to Friday. Council is committed to keeping local residents informed of construction activities in the area and will provide advance notification of any out of hours activities likely to cause disruption during the construction period.

During construction, local residents and businesses in close proximity to the site may experience an increase in noise, dust and low levels of vibration as part of the works.

Council thanks the local community in advance for your patience and understanding while we complete these important works.
