About the project

Council is undertaking immediate works in April 2019 as part of the Shorncliffe Escarpment management plan. They will involve:

  • removing loose rocks from the cliff face between Frank Doyle Park and Moora Park (1-5 April 2019)
  • removing loose rocks from a small section of the cliff face near the Lower Moora Park car park (3-5 April 2019)
  • installing temporary fencing along sections of the cliff face to improve public safety during the Bluewater Festival (18-23 April 2019).

Project timing

Construction is expected to be undertaken in April 2019, weather and construction conditions permitting. Council will undertake this work between 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Impacts during construction

To facilitate the rock removals, the informal path along the foreshore from Frank Doyle Park to Moora Park will close temporarily. Traffic controllers and signage will be present on-site to direct pedestrians. An alternative footpath is available at the top of the cliff that runs along Allpass Parade.

A gazebo near the rock removals at Lower Moora Park car park will also close temporarily during the works.

Council will minimise impacts to the community where possible and appreciates the community’s patience during these important safety works.
