About the project

The Dutton Park Recreation Hub is part of Council’s River Access Network, which aims to encourage recreational and tourism activities on the river and to create new lifestyle and leisure opportunities.

The Dutton Park Recreation Hub provides another way for kayakers and canoeists to access the river and a new way for tourists and residents to access the area.

The facility is able to accommodate a range of vessels and uses including:

  • launching and short-term use of passive crafts such as kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards
  • short-term use for recreational vessels
  • potential future water taxi pick-up and drop-off point
  • a rest point or destination within a network of other public pontoons.

The design of the facilirty incorporated flood resilient features, lighting and improved connectivity from the adjacent car park.

Using the Recreation Hub

The facility is suitable for vessels up to 75 tonnes. Please follow all directional and safety signage at the pontoon. For safe on-water conduct, please head to the Brisbane River Code of Conduct for more information.

Council will be monitoring the usage of the pontoon over the next 12 months and we welcome feedback on all operational aspects such as duration of stay, signage, and usage. Where possible, Council will look to update the pontoon’s usage in line with community feedback.

To provide feedback, please complete the online survey by visiting Council’s website and searching Dutton Park Recreation Hub.
