Riverhills Recreation Hub

The Riverhills Recreation Hub is located at the end of Sumners Road, in Newcomb Park, Riverhills. It was developed and branded with a similar look-and-feel as Council's other on-water facilities that are part of the River Access Network.

The Riverhills Recreation Hub is damaged from the recent severe weather event and is closed pending repair.

The Riverhills Recreation Hub provides an additional river access point for this popular recreation area and facilitates a range of vessels and uses including:

  • launching and short term use of passive crafts such as kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards
  • short term use for recreation vessels
  • pick up and drop off for commercial vessels up to 25 tonnes
  • a rest point or destination within a network of other public pontoons.

Using the recreation hub

The facility allows users to stay for a period of up to two hours, unless otherwise signed by Council. The facility is suitable for vessels up to 25 tonnes.

Fishing is currently allowed on the pontoon, however, boating activities take priority. Cast nets and crab potting are not permitted on the pontoon to ensure the safety of all users.

Users of the facility should follow all signage at the pontoon.

Safety

Council has installed signage onsite to ensure users are able to familiarise themselves with safe on-water conduct before using the facility.

Council encourages all users to also familiarise themselves with the Brisbane River Code of Conduct for further information on how to safely use the river. This guide is available on the Queensland Government's Maritime Safety Queensland website.
