Primrose Park skate facility - Wynnum West

Brisbane City Council is pleased to announce that it has completed the construction of a new skate facility in Primrose Park, 2280 Wynnum Road, Wynnum West.

The skate facility is part of Council's commitment to create new lifestyle and leisure opportunities and deliver vibrant, liveable communities. The new skate facility caters for diverse riders ranging from young children and beginners to professional riders and is free to use.

About the project

The project works included:

  • installation of a new skate facility (approximately 500 square metres)
  • relocation of the existing rebound wall to another area in the park
  • installation of plants around the skate park to provide shade and amenity for users
  • minor landscaping works to tie the new facility into the existing park.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by this project and thanks residents and visitors for their patience while these works were undertaken.

Additional works

Additional works to complement the skate facility at Primrose Park have started. Due to unforeseen circumstances, these works were unable to start in February and instead commenced in early June 2020.

In response to feedback from the community, Council is undertaking additional works to complement the new skate facility and provide more recreational opportunities for park users. These works will include:

  • extending and widening the existing concrete path into a loop around Primrose Park
  • installing new concrete steps on the edges of the skate facility
  • completing new line marking on the half basketball court.

The aim of these additional works is to improve Brisbane's open spaces and encourage outdoor recreational activities.

The additional project works started in early June 2020 and should be completed in mid-July 2020, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Construction impacts

Construction will take place between 7am-5pm, Monday to Saturday. Council is committed to keeping the community informed of construction in the area and will provide advance notice of any out-of-hours activities.

Properties in close proximity to Primrose Park may experience low-level construction noise and potentially some dust. Site fencing will be in place around the works area while this work is completed.

The half basketball court will be temporarily unavailable for users will line marking is completed. The skate facility and rebound wall will also be temporarily unavailable until works are completed in mid-July 2020. These facility closures are necessary to ensure the safety of workers and park users.

Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to the local community during this work. Council apologises in advance for any disruption caused and thanks the community for their patience while we undertake the additional work.
