If you have the free time, we have more for you to see and do across the city that's fun, free and entertaining. From farmers markets, to art exhibitions and music showcases, to exploring the great outdoors and getting back to nature, there's a lifestyle and leisure option to suit all ages.
Festivals and exhibitions: try something new
Brisbane is home to hundreds of free festivals and exhibitions each year and this month is no exception. Immerse yourself in the intoxicating drum beats and vibrant colours of the Brisbane Brazilian Carnival Parade, or get your hands sandy with free beach volleyball in Wynnum. If art is more your scene, take a stroll through this year's Indigenous Art Program's Shared Connections exhibition, hosted within the Outdoor Gallery in and around Brisbane City. Take a tour of the BRISBANE ART DESIGN (BAD) exhibition at Museum of Brisbane, or check out Knockoff, the free Friday night comedy show at Brisbane Powerhouse.
Markets: from vintage treasures to farm fresh feasts
Brisbane's market scene is bursting at the seams with more to see and do across the city. Jump start your weekend with farmers markets delivering fresh produce at the Carseldine Farmers and Artisan Markets, the Jan Powers Farmers Markets at Brisbane Powerhouse, New Farm or in Manly, as well as the Saturday Fresh Markets at Rocklea. If you're looking to start your day a little later, browse the selection of locally produced trinkets, vintage treasures or quirky art pieces at the Village Markets at Kelvin Grove or Riverside at the Gardens Market in Brisbane City.
Live music: feel the rhythm
If spending an afternoon or evening enjoying tunes is something that appeals to you, then Brisbane has a great selection of musical options. From soloists to choirs, Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts to Bands in Parks - there is a vast collection of events and live music offerings for all tastes with some of the best musical talent Brisbane has to offer.
Check out music events in our What's On calendar.
Fitness and well-being activities: sweat it out
Brisbane's green spaces and parks are perfect for getting active outdoors, with more than 150 parks across the city offering outdoor exercise equipment and a range of fitness-based activities in the cooler weather. Get a free or low-cost cardio or resistance workout with activities including yoga, Zumba, boxing, gardening, pilates, or cycling, or take your fitness indoors with a dance class.
Brush up your bush skills
There are a raft of activities on offer for the whole family at Council's bushland reserves. These natural spaces are a great backdrop for kids to learn bush skills including mapping, flora and fauna identification and creek care. Brisbane's beautiful outdoor climate makes parks and green spaces a perfect destination for family enjoyment, whether it's bushwalking, getting close to our native plants and animals, having a picnic, or bike riding.
