Make a splash this summer

With 22 pools and many water play areas across Brisbane, there’s more to see and do to keep cool this summer holidays. Make a splash for free at the newly opened Ferny Grove Aqua Park with its tipping buckets, water cannon and bubblers or make a day of it by bringing a picnic or throwing some snags on the electric BBQs.

Summer in Brisbane evokes images of poolside fun, ice blocks and plenty of SPF. From Sandgate Aquatic Centre and Emily Seebhom Aquatic Centre in the North, to Parkinson Aquatic Centre in the South and Manly Pool in the East – there’s a pool to splash in.

Interactive water play areas at Bellbowrie, Seventeen Mile Rocks and Wynnum offer hours of free or low-cost fun for kids and toddlers, with slides, fountains and more to keep them cool and entertained.

Or take advantage of learn-to-swim classes at Council pools to get your little nipper comfortable with the water or on track to becoming an Olympic champ!

Get moving!

There’s fun for the young and young at heart with several pools hosting free or low-cost aqua classes to keep you active and healthy. Get your heart pumping with high-intensity Tabata aqua classes at Ithaca Pool in Paddington, or if you’re more inclined to cha-cha-cha, there’s Aqua Dance2Bfit at Jindalee Pool or Zumba for all ages at the Wynnum Wading Pool.

Take a step back in time…

Swim back in time at the Spring Hill Baths, Brisbane’s first in-ground pool built in 1886 or try your luck at the high diving platforms at the heritage-listed Centenary Pool in Spring Hill.

With opening hours catering to dedicated lap swimmers and families alike, pools are a low-cost activity for the whole family. Don’t forget to slip, slop, slap, and slide this summer.
