It's almost time for us to launch the new double-decker CityCat (CityCat 22) on the Brisbane River! Joining the existing 21-strong CityCat fleet later in the year, Council's next generation CityCat 22 means more opportunities to connect with the people and places that make our city great.
Cruising the length of the existing CityCat network, from St Lucia to Northshore Hamilton, the double-decker CityCat is expected to start services in November 2019, just in time to enjoy a sparkling summer ride on the river.
Dibs on top deck
The new double-decker CityCat can carry 170 passengers in total, including upper deck seating for 20 passengers, rear deck seating, and the open front deck we all love for those cooling river breezes. We've also increased the accessibility area in the main deck, added table and lounge seating with ceiling to floor window views, and perspex railing on the main deck to maximise your view of the glistening river.
On top of the world
You know the scene we mean. Grab a friend or partner, march them to the front of the deck, spread your arms wide and have your 'king (or queen) of the world' moment. Come on, you know you want to!
Next level fun
Whether it's date night, a cruisey weekend, or a big day out, it's hard to miss the best of Brisbane's waterfront dining and entertainment. With the new double-decker CityCat, you can take a leisurely trip down the river before indulging in a long lunch or delectable dinner. In Northshore Hamilton, there's the colourful Eat Street Markets, at New Farm you've got Brisbane Powerhouse for dining and shows, at Brisbane City's Riverside explore Howard Smith Wharves and at South Bank Parklands, explore Little Stanley Street and Grey Street dining precincts. No matter your pick, the double-decker CityCat can get you there with beautiful #viewsofbrisbane along the way.
Charging on the go
Running out the door with a flat phone or laptop? We've got you covered. The new CityCat 22 boasts USB charging ports within the table and lounge seating in the main deck. Cruise along the river while your device powers up for the day, letting you spend the time connecting with the people and places that make our city great.
On the up and up
CityCat 22 will be the first double-decker CityCat in the network, with six joining the fleet in the future. It's an exciting example of Brisbane's evolving river travel, putting passenger comfort at the centre of the whole experience. With $30 million committed to construction of these new double-decker CityCats over the next four years, it's all part of Council's plan to give you more choice when it comes to travel, and get you home quicker and safer, so you can spend more time doing what you love.
