About the project
The South Bank 3 ferry terminal, located directly opposite to the QUT Gardens Point ferry terminal, provides important CityHopper ferry services between North Quay and Sydney Street. The terminal was identified as requiring maintenance works to:
- improve the amenity of the terminal
- ensure it continues to provide valuable ferry services into the future.
The works commenced in early July 2019 and are now complete.
The maintenance project involved:
- replacement of the gangway
- replacing the pontoon to improve stability and freeboard height
- replacing all of the existing piles
- upgrading the access footpath.
These maintenance works make the terminal safer and easier to use for all passengers, including persons with a mobility impairment, by integrating a variety of features to assist with accessibility.
These works are part of the Lord Mayor’s commitment to improving Brisbane’s public transport network and delivering Australia’s most modern public and active transport.
Council would like to thank local residents and the community for their patience and cooperation while these important works were carried out.
