Active travel maps hit the streets

Each year, Brisbane City Council creates customised active travel maps for new schools on the Active School Travel (AST) program. The map makes it easy for parents, students and staff to find the best routes to school.

Schools are hosting many different events and activities to launch their active travel maps. They include:

  • parking and striding along their identified routes
  • scavenger hunts
  • videos
  • hashtag challenges where students post photos of their walk to school on social media.

All schools will receive a large print version of their map to display in a prominent place in the school grounds, or for teachers to use in class lessons.

Remember to include the map in your school orientation kits and newsletter and share on your school website and social media. How are you promoting your active travel map?

If you’re a new school needing support promoting your active travel maps, contact your AST Officer.
