Dressed for AST success

AST dress up events are a great way to keep AST momentum strong and promote greater community involvement at your school. Term 1 saw our schools celebrate a variety of calendar events in active travel style.

Sports loving students at Greenslopes State School dressed as their Gold Coast Commonwealth Games heroes. Swimmers, hockey players, flag bearers and track and field athletes all walked and rode to school.

Graceville State School continued its ‘May the Fourth Be With You’ tradition as they donned their Star Wars costumes to actively travel to school together. Princess Leia, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers attracted a lot of attention along Oxley Road on route to school!

Meanwhile up the road at Oxley State School, red and white stripes, glasses and hats ruled as a host of Where’s Wallies were spotted pounding the footpaths on Walk Safely to School Day on 18 May.

To help create these fun events to focus attention on AST, schools are using our 2018 Events Calendar to plan their active travel activities in advance. The calendar lists a whole range of local, national and international events that can link to AST in your school. Not only do we give you dates, we’ve also included some ‘how to’ tips and photos to ensure you keep momentum strong and everyone has fun! It all helps promote greater community involvement at your school and keeps momentum strong.

If you don’t have it already, contact us for your copy of the 2018 AST Events Calendar.
