Brisbane schools are encouraged to participate in Queensland Road Safety Week from 17 to 21 August 2015. This national initiative aims to engage the community in important conversations about road safety.
This year's road safety campaign, promoted by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, is 'Join the drive to save lives'.
From 17 to 21 August 2015, take time to remind students about the importance of road safety either by:
- requesting a road safety checklist from your AST officer and conduct an audit with your students around the school
- talking about danger zones around the school (such as the school driveway and carpark) at assembly or book a road safety performance with your AST officer
- integrating activities from Road Safety Matters into your school’s curriculum
- inviting the crossing supervisors to assembly and thank them for helping keep the students safe.
