Every week teachers engage with students to record how they travelled to school. One enterprising teacher has extended that weekly activity to help deliver lessons in the classroom.
Rebecca Rowe, a Year 4 teacher at Mansfield State School, uses the school’s AST data in her digital technologies lessons.
Rebecca uses the AST statistics in class to create spreadsheets and graphs using a special app on the student’s iPads. She’s also been teaching advanced learners how to convert the data into fractions and percentages so the class can compare the data from week to week.
Active School Travel data can be used in other lessons, including maths, geography, science and health and physical education.
