Each year, the Active School Travel team creates customised active travel maps for new schools on the AST program. The map makes it easy for parents, students and staff to find their best walking, riding or public transport routes to school.
We know children want to cycle or scooter to school in Brisbane, yet only around 3% do. We want more students to ride to school and we want them to have the skills, confidence and experience to ride safely.
Walk Safely to School Day is an annual event organised by the Pedestrian Council and has had the continued support of the Active School Travel program. We encouraged our schools to actively travel to school on their active travel day during the week of 14 May, or even better – on the Walk Safely to School Day itself on Friday 18 May.
There's nothing like a creative event to make Active School Travel (AST) fun and visible in your school. Get some inspiration and plan your AST events in advance with the help of our new 2018 events calendar.
