Downfall Creek Bikeway bridge span replacement - Chermside
Brisbane City Council is pleased to announce the replacement of the bridge spans of the Downfall Creek Bikeway pedestrian bridge located at 7th Brigade Park, Chermside.
|Address||Corrie Street, Chermside|
|Project outcomes||Ongoing safety for all users|
|Latest update||Start of construction|
About the project
The existing bridge spans are nearing the end of their serviceable lifespan. In order to maintain a safe thoroughfare for users, new prefabricated bridge spans will be installed.
During installation, periodic bridge closures will be required to ensure the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and project workers. Cyclists and pedestrians will be directed to use an alternative route along the Downfall Creek Bikeway that stays within 7th Brigade Park. View the detour map (Word - 852kb).
The majority of works will be undertaken from the Corrie Street side of Downfall Creek however some construction will also be undertaken from the Delaware Street approach. Traffic control measures to direct vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists will be put in place as required.
While these works are undertaken, bridge users may experience small delays to their journey and nearby residents may experience an increase in noise, dust and vehicle movements with reversing beepers and flashing lights.
Construction is anticipated to start at the end of July 2020 and be complete late August 2020, weather and construction conditions permitting. Work hours will be between 6.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
