The C.T White Park Lookout project is part of Council’s commitment to improving quality of life for residents while ensuring our city has the services and infrastructure to meet the needs of future generations.
Council identified that the lookout structure in C.T. White Park required rehabilitation works to ensure it remained safe and serviceable for the community. During a regular maintenance inspection, Council identified that the riverbed around the piles had eroded to an unacceptable condition and works were required to enhance the life of the structure and increase safety for pedestrians using the structure.
C.T. White Park Lookout structure is a ‘jetty’ platform that comes off the main riverwalk, located approximately 200 metres south along the boardwalk from the Thornton Street ferry terminal.
Construction works and timings
The project involved installing rock armour scour protection around the structure support piles to protect from future erosion. As the works were carried out under the surface of the water, there is no visible difference to the lookout structure now the work is complete.
