Brisbane City Council has completed works at the Lutwyche Road and Bowen Street intersection in Windsor as part of the 2019-20 Australian Government Black Spot Program.
|Address||Lutwyche Road and Bowen Street, Windsor|
|Project outcomes||Improved safety|
|Latest update||Construction completed in October 2019|
About the project
The Black Spot Program is part of the Australian Government's commitment to reduce crashes on Australian roads and improve road safety by implementing upgrade measures such as roundabouts, traffic signals and upgrades appropriate to each black spot location.
The Lutwyche Road and Bowen Street intersection was identified for these works as it experienced a relatively high crash rate, with 14 reported crashes at the intersection between January 2013 and December 2018, the majority of which resulted from poor visibility of traffic signals on the southbound approach.
Works on the intersection of Lutwyche Road and Bowen Street started in early September 2019 and were completed in late October 2019 and involved:
- installing a new signal mast arm to increase visibility
- realigning the pedestrian crossing
- upgrading pedestrian kerb ramps and pedestrian paths at the intersection
- line marking.
The upgrade will improve safety for all road users and Council thanks the community for their patience and understanding while these important works were completed.
