Main Street Boulevard project - Kangaroo Point
Brisbane City Council is pleased to advise that work will start in January 2020 on a new landscaped garden at the junction of Main Street and Shafston Avenue at Kangaroo Point, as part of the next stage of the Main Street Boulevard enhancement project.
The Main Street Boulevard project is a street enhancement project taking place along Main Street, from Vulture Street to the Bradfield Highway at the Story Bridge.
The project is enhancing the streetscape by planting water-wise, shade -producing street trees and new gardens.

Work on the new landscaped garden will start in January 2020.
A large feature banyan fig will be the feature point of the garden. The top side of the garden along Shafston Avenue inbound will feature five of Brisbane's iconic hoop pines.
The new feature garden on the traffic island will include:
- planting 15 new trees, including the large feature banyan fig
- installing new garden beds and plants
- architectural landscaping.
In order to create the new landscape design, two small existing trees will be removed as part of the project. All work will be carried out in accordance with the relevant environmental guidelines. Council will make every effort to minimise environmental impacts during construction.
