St Lucia to West End green bridge
Brisbane City Council is building five new green bridges across Brisbane to make it even easier for you to get around our city using public transport, or by bike, or on foot.
The St Lucia to West End green bridge will cater for pedestrians and cyclists, and potentially public transport pending community consultation and traffic studies, making it easier to travel between the University of Queensland at St Lucia, West End, Highgate Hill and the Brisbane Central Business District (CBD).
It will link the existing active transport network and the proposed Toowong to West End green bridge.
The St Lucia to West End green bridge will also enhance the river loop recreational cycling and walking experience.
Initial consultation on the project was undertaken in late 2019 and preliminary planning is now underway on this project. Feedback from the community will play a critical role in the development of the St Lucia to West End green bridge and Council will provide further opportunities for you to have your say on the project in 2020.
The proposed alignment has been identified extending from the corner of Keith Street and Macquarie Street in St Lucia across the Brisbane River to the southern end of Boundary Street in West End.
The proposed alignment is not final and is subject to further investigations and community and stakeholder feedback.
Continued feedback from the community and stakeholders will play a critical role in further defining the project’s benefits, including the bridge’s final alignment, landing locations and design treatments.
