Start of construction works

About the project

These works will be completed in two stages.

Stage One involves installing over 100-metres of additional stormwater drain pipes in the centre of Brunswick Road, New Farm, between Welsby Street and just prior to the Sydney Street roundabout.

Stage Two involves placing fibre glass liners inside the existing box drain to ensure the ongoing structural integrity of the ageing drainage system. The timeframe and funding for these works are still to be confirmed.

Timing

Stage One works will commence on 20 June 2022 and are expected to be complete by November 2022, weather and site conditions permitting.

The works will take place between 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, with the option to work on Saturdays, when required, from 7am to 5pm.

Some night works may be required. We will provide advance notice to the community if any out-of-hours works are required.

Impacts during construction

During construction, you can expect:

  • noise, dust and increased vehicle movements, with reversing beepers and flashing lights in the area
  • traffic delays and temporary lane closures that will impact on-street parking, but will be managed by on-site traffic controllers to direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Access to some driveways may be impacted in the works area. We will speak to local residents and business owners in advance of any access changes.

We value your patience and cooperation while we undertake these important works.
