Brisbane City Council is pleased to announce the resurfacing of the Kholo Road bridge. The asphalt surfacing works will be commencing on Friday, 12 February, weather and construction conditions permitting.

About the project

Works to upgrade the bridge include:

  • preparation works including profiling and milling of the road surface, which includes removal of the upper layers of the bridge deck waterproofing asphalt
  • application of a bitumen tack coating to the exposed asphalt followed by the installation of a new asphalt waterproofing surface
  • road closure with the use of traffic control and diversion signage between Skyline Drive and Blackwall Road
  • the detour route is via Mt. Crosby Road

Project Timing

The project will be commencing over the following weekend, weather and site conditions permitting:

  • Weekend one: Friday, 12 February at 7pm through to Monday, 15 February 5am

Contingency weekends are planned for the following weekends should works be affected by weather and or construction conditions:

  • Weekend two: Friday, 19 February at 7pm through to Monday, 22 February at 5am
  • Weekend three: Friday, 26 February at 7pm through to Monday, 1 March at 5am.

Impacts during works

Construction noise and impacts

Nearby residents and businesses may experience some temporarily inconvenices during the resurfacing works which may include:

  • noise and dust from construction equipment
  • low levels of vibration and increased lighting
  • no through traffic during resurfacing and joint maintenance works
  • detours around the limits of the project
  • short delays to local residents and businesses within or near the work zone.

Council is committed to minimising the impact of the works on the community as much as possible.

Traffic changes

The following traffic changes will be in place for the duration of the works:

  • road closure with the use of traffic control and diversion signage between Skyline Drive and Blackwall Road
  • the detour route is via Mt. Crosby Road.
