About the project

We will be constructing a new pedestrian crossing point on Wadeville Street to the west of Kent Street, as part of the Wadeville Street pedestrian improvements project.

This new pedestrian crossing point will help accommodate an increase in people using the local bus service and ongoing growth in the Heathwood area.

This project will improve safety and connectivity for pedestrians in the local area by providing a new pedestrian crossing point to access public transport and local residential areas.

These improvements include:

  • installing a pedestrian refuge island on Wadeville Street
  • constructing new footpath connections and kerb ramps
  • constructing new kerb and channel and undertaking minor works to the road surface
  • turfing, landscaping and new road line markings.

Timing

Minor trimming of overhanging trees will take place from 18 May 2022. Construction for the new footpath and pedestrian crossing point will start in early June 2022 and take approximately three weeks to complete, weather and site conditions permitting.

Works will be undertaken between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday. Some out of hours may also be required, however we will provide advance notice to the local community.

Construction impacts

Temporary traffic changes will be required while the works are underway, and motorists should expect delays when travelling through the area.

Signage and traffic control will be in place to assist people walking, riding and driving around the works.

Throughout construction, residents in close proximity to the works may experience some construction noise, movements and low levels of vibration and dust.
