Resident parking permits

Resident parking permits are available for eligible residents who live in a Regulated Parking Permit Scheme Area. Council's digital permit system links vehicle registrations to permits so residents are not required to display a permit in their vehicle. Permits are valid for 12 months from the date the application is received.

Note: Peer-to-peer car-share operations or similar car-sharing arrangements are not eligible. A peer-to-peer car sharing model is one whereby an individual resident can temporarily rent out their personal vehicle for use by any person via a controlled online platform.

Visitor permits

Visitor permits are available to residents who live in a Regulated Parking Permit Scheme Area for use by their visitors. These permits are interchangeable between visitors. Permits are valid for 12 months from the date the application is received.

The updated digital permit system allows you to apply for a digital visitor permit that is linked to the visitor's vehicle registration number and does not need to be displayed.

Permit renewal can be done via the self-service portal by logging onto your online parking permit account or by phoning the Brisbane Parking Permits team 1300 322 377, Monday to Friday between 7am and 7pm.

Short-term category A permits (for private events, functions or minor repair works)

Eligible residents who are hosting a private event, or undertaking minor repair works, within a Regulated Parking Permit Scheme Area can apply for a digital short-term category A permit to be linked to guests' vehicles. Short-term category A permits for events or minor repair work are only valid for up to 48 hours and can include up to 10 vehicles per permit. Residents can only apply for two short-term category A permits each calendar year.

Short-term category B permits (for residential construction works)

Eligible residents who are undertaking residential construction works within a Regulated Parking Permit Scheme Area can apply for a digital short-term category B permit for use by construction workers. Residents can only apply for three short-term category B permits each calendar year, with each permit valid for one vehicle. (The vehicle can be changed as needed.) The three permits can be issued at the same time or separately throughout the year. Short-term category B permits for residential construction works are valid for up to three months.

Carer permits

A carer permit may be issued to residents with a disability or medical condition living in a Regulated Parking Permit Scheme Area who receive ongoing care from family members or friends. Carer permits are valid for 12 months from the date of application. These digital permits are interchangeable between carers.

You can update the vehicle registration plate details of your carer by logging into your online parking permit account or by phoning 1300 322 377 from Monday to Friday from 7am-7pm.

Fleet car permits

A fleet permit may be issued to residents who live in Regulated Parking Permit Scheme Area and have exclusive use of a vehicle that is registered to a corporation or business and is kept at their residential address.

Vessel occupier permits

A vessel occupier permit may be issued to the occupant of a vessel moored on the Brisbane River at Gardens Point Boat Harbour or Dockside Marina moorings.

These digital permits are valid for three months from the date of application.

Health and community permits

Health and community parking permits may be issued to healthcare practitioners, health service providers, or charitable organisations for the purpose of visiting residents within a Regulated Parking Permit Scheme Area to provide ongoing in-home care.

Car-share operator permits

Car-share parking permits are available to eligible car-share operators (registered businesses or corporations) that operate a short-term car-share scheme within a Regulated Parking Permit Scheme Area. The car-share activity must be a commercial operation that makes vehicles available to customers through an accessible and secure booking system. A car-share permit may be issued to the registered vehicle that is owned by the business or corporation and is available for short-term hire to its members or customers.

For more information about car-share permits, download the Car-share permits information guide (Word - 126kb).
